Vinted Shoppers Share Anger About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
